The single of the week starting March 18th is from Action Bronson’s latest mixtape, Blue Chips. If you havent heard it you definitely need to go check it out. Action Bronson had an excellent album last year by the name of Well Done, with producer Statik Selektah. This mixtape really picks up where he left off. The only word to describe it is awesome.
Here’s Copy’s dope ass video for his single “Workaholic” off his latest album, God Save the King. If you haven’t peeped this album yet you must do so immediately. Check it out on iTunes. You won’t be disappointed. Copy is iller than ever.
Man Bites Dog Records are proud to present the “Early 90′s” music video with Double A.B., Karniege & Torae, Song produced by Kount Fif from the album The Swashbuckler Volume 1: The Viking Wars. Video directed by R.M.L.
My third favorite album of 2011 finally gets another video. It’s actually been a minute since I gave Cole World: The Sideline Story a spin. I think it’s due for one tomorrow. “Nobody’s Perfect” was definitely one of my favorite tracks.
Yesterday Nas dropped his 2nd single off his upcoming album, Life is Good. Like his last single, Nasty, it has a very vintage feel to it. I’ll definitely be rocking to it. Nas has been on fire lately with his guest features and its looking like his album will be even better.
Last’s weeks dopest single without a doubt was from Big K.R.I.T.’s latest project, 4Eva N A Day. It’s callled “1986″ Also if you still haven’t heard the project, check it out here. I promise that it’s worth your time.
Here’s some brand new Wingspan for y’all. It was posted a couple weeks back on his Facebook page, but I’m just now getting the chance to post. This is an unreleased interlude that was slated to appear on his Down 2 Earth EP. If you haven’t heard that yet make sure you check it out over at his Bandcamp
Yesterday K.R.I.T. dropped his brand new mixtape full of completely new material entitled, 4Eva N A Day. I got the chance to listen to a little of it yesterday and was very impressed. The kid K.R.I.T. still has it and his upcoming debut on Def Jam should be a problem.
Anyone else miss Lil Flip? He was by no means the best lyricist but he had some decent tracks. I was a huge fan of his CD, U Gotta Feel Me back in the day. He’s been pretty silent as of late. I remember back in 2010 he was dropping a mixtape just about every week. Here’s to hoping he can some how get back in the spotlight sometime soon. This is a new track he recently dropped. I haven’t seen it posted anywhere else. Gotta love that Walking Dead quotable.
It seems like everyone is trying to form hip hop super groups ever since Slaughterhouse came through an smashed it. Well there’s a new group called M.A.R.S. made up of Action Bronson, Cormega, Saigon and Roc Marciano. Here is their first single. It’s produced by the legendary Large Professor. I’m really excited to see what this group has to offer. It’s definitely an all star lineup of great spitters.
J. Cole hasn’t really given us much material since his debut album, Cole World: The Sideline Story, save a couple features but now he’s back with his song “Grew up Fast.” His second album is expected to drop sometime this Summer and I know I may be a little greedy but I can’t help but hope he gives us another mixtape before then. J. Cole is definitely one of my most relatable artists. I’m really glad that his album went Gold. It proves that real hip hop can still sell these days.
My favorite single to drop on the week of February 12th was a random Redman freestyle over my all time favorite Eminem song, “Just Don’t Give A…” There’s really no word as to why he dropped this but it definitely impressed me. I’ve never been a huge fan of Redman but I do like a couple of his albums, Red Gone Wild & his album with Def Squad, El Nino. Eminem always listed Redman as one of his biggest influences and it’s clearly evident as their styles are very much a like. I’d love to hear a new Redman/Eminem collab sometime soon. Make it happen Marshall.
It’s been a while since we’ve heard any new Atmosphere. Here’s their latest video though, from The Family Sign. In September of last year I got the chance to see them live in concert and it was one of the best experiences of my life. I don’t really know if any other concert will live up to Slug’s amazing performance. “Became” is one of my favorite songs off their last CD. Still not 100% sure whether he’s talking about an actual dog or not. I guess that’s why it makes this song so great.
The Week of the Superbowl coincided with the release of Curren$y’s latest EP, Here. It featured Curren$y going over some beats he shoulda graced long before. The first track was a freestyle over Fab’s Alchemist produced track, “Welcome to my Workplace.” Curren$y’s Covert Coup mixtape was easily one of my favorite mixtapes to come out last year and this joint left me fiending even more for another project from them. Apparently I can rest easy because the sequel to Covert Coup drops on 4/20 and is called, Re-Coversionalize. Speaking of recent Curren$y projects, Muscle Car Chronicles just dropped on iTunes this Tuesday.
As you know, Camp was one of my all time favorite albums from 2011. Here’s Childish Gambino’s latest video for a song called “Heartbeat” off that album. Guess it’s perfect timing since Valentines Day is around the corner. If you haven’t heard Camp yet do yourself a huge favor and give it a couple spins.
Joe Budden just came through and proved to the masses once again why he’s one of the best rap artists out. He literally destroyed this beat. I don’t think that the original can live up to this at all. I don’t even consider it a freestyle. This is just nuts. This is the exact Budden shit that I love to listen too. As soon as I heard this I immediately went back to my favorite mixtape of his, Mood Muzik 3. Mood Muzik 4 will likely be in rotation soon as well.
On February 28th, Copywrite will release his latest album, God Save The King. Recently he’s been putting out a lot of tracks that didn’t make the cut. Here is one of them. I love his witty wordplay, its great. His last album, The Life & Times of Peter Nelson was slept on by many, but those who heard it felt it. I’m sure this album will live up to its hype. Preorder God Save The King over at UGHH.
Cam’s newest protege kicks it with Fabolous for a brand new video off his Slime Flu 2 tape which dropped on Black Friday 2011. I haven’t given that tape nearly enough spins but from what I remember it was just as good as the first. You already know Fab comes correct on this joint as well. Recently Vado dropped Boss of All Bosses 3 with Cam. Speaking of Cam’Ron hopefully he finally makes that Dipset Reunion album happen.
Late last year out of nowhere, producer Madlib hooked up with Freddie Gibbs and released an EP by the name of Thuggin’. Here is the title track. They are currently working on a full length LP which will likely see release later this year. Gibbs has definitely proved his worth. Hooking up with Jeezy gave him a lot more exposure for sure.
Six months after, All 6′s & 7′s dropped, Tech N9ne decided to put out a video to his single “Am I a Psycho?” The album as a whole didn’t really have much replay value but this song was definitely a banger. I still find myself playing this every now and then. Currently Tech is touring for his collaboration album, Welcome to Strangeland.
