I thought this video and song were really dope so I decided to post it. This is off Copywrite’s upcoming album, God Save the King, which drops on February 28th. I’m looking forward to it as his last album, The Life And Times Of Peter Nelson was pretty impressive. Props to Wingspan for sending this through.

Last week B.O.B. let loose of his remix to his hit single, “Strange Clouds.” This time it features fellow ATLiens, Young Jeezy & T.I. I definitely think this one is better than the original. It’s a shame the video for this was such a let down. I’m sure the Strange Clouds album won’t disappoint though. Look for it in stores in March.

Sorry for the extreme lack of posting. I’ve been busy making major moves in my life. Here goes the first single of the week for 2012. It’s off Rick Ross’ latest mixtape, Rich Forever which dropped the first week of January. It’s crazy good. I can’t believe he’s giving out all this material for a mixtape. If this is any indication of his next solo album, God Forgives, I Don’t, then we’re in for a great feast. Check out the entire mixtape here if you haven’t peeped it yet. I can’t believe he got Nas on this joint, a crazy verse at that!
So this year was a huge year for hip hop. I became a fan of many new artists as well as heard some great projects from some of my favorites. One of them I discovered at the last second, while another one I almost forgot dropped this year. For a brief review on each album and my favorite track off of each hit the jump. There were also a few more great albums that I had a hard time leaving out so make sure you check them after the jump as well.
1.Kendrick Lamar – #Section.80
2.CunninLynguists – Oneirology
3.J. Cole – Cole World: The Sideline Story
4.Big K.R.I.T. – Returnof4eva
5.Drake – Take Care
6.Childish Gambino – Camp
7.Saigon – The Greatest Story Never Told
8.Common – The Dreamer, The Believer
9.Game – The R.E.D. Album
10. Bad Meets Evil – Hell: The Sequel
Remember when Rick Ross hit us with those two crazy mixtapes Ashes to Ashes and Albert Anastasia? Well now he’s back with an even better mixtape by the name of, Rich Forever. This one serves as a prelude to his upcoming album, God Forgives, I Don’t and features artists such as: Nas, Styles P, John Legend, Drake, Diddy, 2 Chainz, Wale, & Stalley. It’s definitely a decent listen from front to back. That track with Nas is nuts, as are many others. I honestly can’t believe he’s giving this out as a mixtape. Hit the jump for the fully tagged link.
Common dropped one of the best albums this year and here’s his latest video off that project. The Dreamer, The Believer is in stores now, if you haven’t heard it then you should soon. Don’t let it be one of those albums you regretted sleeping on for so long. I’m still waiting for that Blue Sky (Remix) with Kanye West. Wonder if it’ll ever turn up?
One of last year’s most ignorant jams finally gets a video. Nothing special here, just performance shots and product placements. If you like this song make sure you check out 2 Chainz latest mixtape, T.R.U. Realigion. Also make sure you check out T.I.’s latest mixtapeF*Ck Da City Up which dropped on New Years Day.
This month’s dopest mixtape was Still Standing 3. It actually grew on me a lot. Earlier I said that it was somewhat disappointing but after giving it a second spin I changed my mind. J.R. Writer usually pushes back his projects multiple times but this time was different. He delivered us a shipment of the third installment of his Still Standing series right on time. Some of my favorite tracks were: “That’s All,” “Overdose,” “Get High,” “What Is It About You,” and “Bodied That.”
Bishop comes back real strong with his “first” single off his upcoming album, The Reformation. Word on the street is he’s actually been working with Dr. Dre again for Detox. With that said, this album will still be coming out on his own label. There’s no official release date for it yet but this single is getting rave reviews. Hopefully we see it by the end of the first quarter.
Trae recently released his newest track which featured Mystikal and Tech N9ne, now he unleashes the music video. I’m really feeling this one. The video takes place in an auto shop and each rappers performances are done very well. Get at PhillyFlyBoy on twitter and let him know the great job he did filming this video. It’s great to see Mysitkal in his first real music video since getting out of the pen. His verse is crazy as well. And you already know that Tech N9ne brings his. I love his harmonizing towards the end of his verse. It fits this song perfectly.
Trae – All That I Know (ft. Mystikal, Tech N9ne & Brian Angel)
And here goes two more 50 Cent videos. Recently 50 took to twitter to complain about his record label not giving him the opportunity to release music the way he wants. He then threatened to release another mixtape if they didn’t straighten their stuff out. I don’t really know what’s going on between Fif and the label but it makes no sense seeing as he’s got a #1 mixtape out as well as multiple new music videos each with over 1 million views. 50 also recently struck a distribution deal with Pepsi to release his new energy drink, Street King.
This year was a great year for hip hop. There were a ton of great tracks to be released, and after picking tracks for the week, I’d hear another one I missed and start to feel different about my choice. It was very hard to pick a lot of this tracks but in the end I all feel like the represent the year 2011 as a whole. For those of you confused, every week Wordap.net picks their favorite single that comes out. Here are all 52 of them from 2011. Enjoy over 3 hours of music! Hit the jump for a full tracklist.
